A stomach churning video has captured the moment a huge brown snake devours a carpet python – in a meal that lasts HOURS.
The huge reptile turned on its mate, swallowing it head first before proceeding to chow down on the rest of its long body.
Snake catchers Norman and Sally Hill discovered the hungry reptile when they were called to a home near Ipswich in Queensland yesterday.
Sally told ABC News Australia : “We’ve never seen something like this before, it’s very rare any snake catcher gets an opportunity to witness something like this.”
Sally and Norman then waited for several hours while the snake finished off its enormous meal.
The husband and wife believe that the reptile’s rather cannibalistic choice of meal could have been sparked by population pressure, which has led to more competition for food.
Brown snakes usually eat mice, frogs and lizards but have been known to turn on their own kind when hungry.
Sally says sightings of brown snakes have doubled since 2015.
In December, a terrified man discovered a 12ft long python hiding in his washing machine .
Korncharoon Roekchai, 48, opened the machine’s door and disturbed the curled-up snake which reared up and spread its mouth – ready to attack.
Petrified Korncharoon stumbled back in shock, landed on his backside and kicked the door shut with his bare feet.
He quickly called wildlife rescuers who spent 30 minutes carefully catching the angry serpent and putting it in a sack.
